Trauma Informed Croydon

Being trauma informed means recognising that difficult or overwhelming experiences can affect how people feel, relate to others and respond to everyday situations. It means approaching people with curiosity and compassion, and considering what they may need to feel safe, respected and supported.

In practice, this should shape how we communicate, build relationships and design services. We can explain what will happen next, offer meaningful choices, listen without judgement and involve people in decisions that affect them. It also means reflecting on policies and environments that could unintentionally cause distress, and making changes to reduce the risk of further harm.
