A report drawing on the lived experiences, practitioner insights and data.

How well do we really understand the experiences of girls caught up in, or at risk of, crime? Are our current systems truly equipped to meet their needs, or are they unintentionally deepening harm?
SHiFT’s powerful new report, Invisibilised: Girls caught up in, or at risk of, crime, brings these questions to the forefront. Despite representing just 15% of the youth justice caseload, girls remain an overlooked and underserved group within a framework largely built around boys. This publication calls for an urgent rethink—championing trauma-informed, gender-specific approaches that acknowledge girls’ lived realities and pathways into offending.
Drawing on lived experience, practitioner insights, and data, Invisibilised is an essential read for all professionals committed to advancing equity, safeguarding, and system reform.
Read, reflect, and share widely—because visibility is the first step toward change.
