Learning Resources for Partner Agencies
18 de set. de 2026
The Croydon Safeguarding Children Partnership has developed a briefing slide deck to support partner agencies in understanding and implementing the new Information Sharing Duty
The Information Sharing Duty represents a significant cultural shift across safeguarding partnerships, strengthening the expectation that agencies share information which may help another organisation exercise its safeguarding or welfare functions. The duty is intended to remove uncertainty around information sharing and support more effective multi-agency working to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
Free learning resource
The slide deck is available for all partner agencies to:
Use within team meetings, safeguarding briefings and supervision sessions.
Support local workforce development and training.
Promote discussion about the practical implications of the new duty.
Encourage reflection on how information-sharing decisions are made within organisations.
Consider how agencies can evidence compliance and effective multi-agency working.
Key discussion theme
The Information Sharing Duty is not about transferring responsibility. It is about strengthening shared responsibility.
The duty requires organisations to share information where it may help another agency safeguard or promote the welfare of a child. Sharing information does not remove an agency's own safeguarding responsibilities; effective safeguarding continues to depend on agencies working together to identify need, assess risk and provide support.
Lunch & Learn Sessions
The CSCP will be hosting a series of Lunch & Learn sessions to support implementation of the Information Sharing Duty.
These interactive sessions will:
Walk through the briefing slides.
Explore the legislation and statutory guidance.
Discuss practical scenarios and decision-making.
Consider common myths and barriers to information sharing.
Provide opportunities for questions, reflection and multi-agency discussion.
Support practitioners and leaders to understand what the changes mean in practice.
A question for all partners
Are we still asking "Can I share this information?" or should we now be asking "What happens if I don't?"
The Information Sharing Duty challenges all agencies to think differently about information sharing and the role it plays in helping children receive the right help, at the right time, from the right people.
